SILHOUETTE ANIMATION

Silhoutte animation is a form of stop motion. It is often called " Shadow Puppet" or "Shadow Play". It is said that the earliest silhoutte animation originated from China during the Han Dynasty when the one of Emperor Wu’s concubine died . He commanded his officers to resurrect his beloved and that was when the officers created a silhouette of his beloved, bringing her back to life. From then on, shadow puppet has spread throughout the world. There were records of countries for example, Indonesia, Taiwan, Thailand and Greece. Each country has a different name for shadow puppetry. In China, it is called " Pi Ying Xi", in Indonesia it is "Wayang Kulit" and in Turkey it is "Kargot Hacivat".
